PEORIA, AZ – Police have arrested a 30-year-old man after he reportedly stabbed and killed a 57-year-old man in Peoria on Saturday afternoon.

Anthony Paul Kupreisis faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the crime.

According to Peoria police, just before 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing at home near 67th Avenue and Happy Valley Road.

As officers arrived, they located Jeffrey Falesch suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Police identified Kupreisis as the suspect in the case and put out his information to law enforcement agencies throughout Arizona and California.

Just after 11 p.m., Kupreisis was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol agents at a checkpoint on Interstate 8 in Yuma County.

Police say Kupreisis was traveling eastbound toward Phoenix when he was stopped at the checkpoint.

He was then booked into the Yuma County Jail on a count of first-degree murder and will be transported back to the Valley next week, police said.
