PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Phoenix police have turned over audio tapes of terrifying 911 calls from a bizarre crime spree that started with arson and ended with murder. One of the calls was made by a woman whose husband was killed in their house while she was hiding from an intruder. The crimes happened on March 31, 2018 and the calls started coming in during the very early hours of the morning. Murders over the last year in the City of Tucson rose by 13 percent for reasons unknown to local law enforcement, but the Tucson Police Department has managed to solve the vast majority with the community’s help.  Tucson Police investigated 53 murders last year, with three occurring during the last three days of the year. MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS5) — A Mesa woman has been arrested for allegedly attacking her boyfriend with a hammer on Christmas morning. The Dec. 25 incident happened at a home near Mesa Drive and Southern Avenue. Mesa police say a neighbor called them after hearing a disturbance at the home. When officers arrived at the house, police say they found 30-year-old Jessica Julianna Ruiz-Iturbe holding a hammer in her hand. Police say Ruiz-Iturbe and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument. PHOENIX – A woman in a vegetative state, who has been in the care of Hacienda Healthcare in Phoenix for more than 10 years, gave birth on Dec. 29 when employees did not know she was pregnant, a source told 12 News. PHOENIX — A federal appeals court will give Democrats a new chance to argue that an Arizona law banning “ballot harvesting” is illegal. In a brief order, the majority of the judges on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said they want to review and reconsider a 2-1 ruling by one of their panels last year that upheld the 2016 law, which bars Arizonans from collecting and delivering the ballots of others.
