MARICOPA (3TV/CBS 5) — A Maricopa woman is facing criminal charges, including endangerment and witness tampering after her young relative was removed from her home amid allegations of abuse. Erin Darr Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Erin Darr was arrested on suspicion of child abuse a few days before Christmas, and it’s not the first time she’s been under investigation. When the 11-year-old victim’s classmates noticed bruises, she told them Darr had been “physically abusing her,” according to court documents. (CNN) — A 15-year-old took his own life after accidentally shooting and killing his friend on New Year’s Eve, police in suburban Atlanta said. Inside a cramped, makeshift shed, Devin Hodges was showing three other boys a handgun Monday afternoon when it accidentally fired, striking Chad Carless, 17, who was sitting next to him, the Gwinnett County, Georgia, Police Department said. PHOENIX, AZ (3TV/CBS5) — Phoenix police said a woman was hit by a car while walking in the area Bell Road and Central Avenue Wednesday evening. PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that left a man hospitalized Wednesday afternoon.  According to Sgt. Armando Carbajal with the Phoenix Police Department, the shooting happened just before 4 p.m. near 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road. PHOENIX — Snow is falling on cacti in southern Arizona, while Anchorage is seeing balmy weather — at least by Alaska standards. The weather appears to be flipped throughout much of the West.
